
Dr. Zakir Naik Urges Muslims to Leverage Social Media and AI for Spreading Islam

Renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik has expressed concerns about the spread of negativity on social media, stating that unfortunately, evil is being promoted more than good. He urged that social media should be used to propagate the teachings of Islam.
While addressing an event titled “The Media and Its Importance” at the Governor House in Sindh, Dr. Zakir Naik highlighted that Muslims are often targeted on global media platforms, with much of the criticism being baseless. He observed that Muslims have primarily excelled only in the entertainment industry, neglecting other aspects of media.
Dr. Naik clarified that television and social media, in themselves, are not harmful, but their misuse is forbidden. He stressed that if social media is employed to spread the message of Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it could become a pathway to paradise.
He further lamented that most Islamic institutions and seminaries fail to educate their students about modern media technologies. He encouraged the use of social media platforms for Islamic teachings and pointed out that efforts to use these platforms for religious propagation face obstacles because, unfortunately, modern technology is often controlled by non-Muslims.
Dr. Naik shared that media technology is still underutilized in spreading the message of Islam. Recalling his own realization in 2006, he mentioned that Peace TV was established to address this gap. By using technology on par with entertainment media, they were able to reach millions of viewers in a short time.
