ECP Sets August 29 Deadline for Annual Political Party Accounts

ISLAMABAD — The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday reminded political party leaders to submit their annual audited statements of accounts for the financial year 2024–25 by August 29, 2025.

According to a press release, this requirement is in line with Section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017, along with Section 204 and rules 159 and 160 of the Election Rules, 2017. Political parties must file a consolidated statement of accounts on Form-D, covering details of their annual income and expenses, sources of funds, assets, and liabilities.

The statement must be accompanied by an audit report from a Chartered Accountant and a certificate signed by an authorized party official, confirming that:

• No funds were received from prohibited sources under the Elections Act, 2017
• The accounts accurately represent the party’s financial position
• The statement is properly audited, with the detailed audit report attached

The ECP clarified that all submissions must be complete and in the official Form-D format, available free of charge from the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad and from the Provincial Election Commissioners’ offices in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The form is also accessible via the ECP’s official website.

Additionally, the statement must include an attested copy of the membership certificate issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) for the engaged auditor, along with its latest renewal certificate. A clear copy of each party bank statement from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, and a bank reconciliation statement, must also be attached.

The ECP stressed that these documents should be submitted directly by an authorized office-bearer of the party to the Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, Constitution Avenue, Islamabad, as per Rule 156 of the Election Rules, 2017. Submissions through post, fax, courier, or any other means will not be accepted.
