Egyptian President: “Displacement and Forced Migration of Palestinians is Injustice We Cannot Be Part Of”
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has condemned the forced displacement and migration of the Palestinian people, describing it as an injustice that Egypt cannot be part of. He further emphasized that ignoring or permitting such forced migration is unacceptable, as it could have significant implications for Egypt’s national security.
This stance was presented during a press conference in Cairo with Kenyan President William Ruto. El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s willingness to collaborate with U.S. President Donald Trump in pursuit of a peace agreement based on the two-state solution. He made it clear that Egypt would not abandon its historic and unwavering position on the Palestinian issue.
Since the beginning of the crisis, Egypt has consistently warned that the goal of the situation is the forced migration of Palestinians. For this reason, Cairo has taken a strong stance against this from the outset. El-Sisi noted that “the Egyptian, Arab, and global public opinion is united in recognizing the historical injustice faced by the Palestinian people for 70 years… what has happened since October 7 is the consequence of the failure to resolve the Palestinian issue.”
Earlier, a senior Egyptian official denied media reports claiming that President el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump had discussed the transfer of Palestinians from Gaza over a phone call. The official stressed that any communication at such a high level would be officially announced, particularly during such crucial times for the Middle East.
Before this, President Trump had suggested that he would not back away from his proposal for the relocation of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. According to Trump, he had informed the Egyptian president that he wanted Palestinians to live in an area where they could live peacefully without chaos and revolution. Trump referred to Gaza as a “hell on earth” for many years.
It is important to note that the war ignited by Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, led to the displacement of nearly 2.4 million people from Gaza. The ongoing forced displacement remains a critical and devastating issue for the Palestinian people.
