Erik Prince Joins Security Operations in Ecuador to Combat Organized Crime
Erik Prince, the founder of the controversial security contractor Blackwater, has joined Ecuador’s law enforcement efforts in the fight against organized crime, marking a significant step in the country’s battle against violent criminal gangs.
On Saturday, Prince participated in the “Apolo 13” anti-crime operation in Guayaquil, one of Ecuador’s most dangerous cities, with local police and government officials. The operation led to the raid of 10 properties and the detention of 40 individuals, as part of ongoing efforts to curb the increasing violence and drug trafficking in the country.
Ecuador’s Interior Minister John Reimberg confirmed the details of the operation, emphasizing the collaboration between Prince, Ecuador’s defense and interior ministries, and local law enforcement. “Since early this morning, the security block, together with American security expert Erik Prince, has been deployed to the suburbs of Guayaquil, targeting criminal elements and strengthening our law enforcement efforts,” Reimberg said in a statement.
