Ethiopia and Pakistan Finalize Joint Plans for Trade Exhibition and Business Forum in Addis Ababa
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), met with Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to finalize coordination ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa.
During the meeting, both officials expressed confidence in the comprehensive arrangements made for the Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference and Exhibition, scheduled from May 15 to May 17, 2025, in Ethiopia’s capital. They commended the enthusiastic response from the Pakistani business community, which has shown strong interest in the trade event.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal formally invited Ambassador Hamid to attend the Invest in Ethiopia High-Level Business Forum, taking place on May 12 and 13, 2025. He emphasized that the exhibition will serve as a milestone in deepening economic, trade, and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
Highlighting the proactive role of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, Ambassador Dr. Jemal noted that the successful launch of Ethiopian Airlines operations in Pakistan is enabling seamless trade and travel between the two nations. He termed this development a critical step under Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” strategy.
Ambassador Hamid Asghar praised the tireless efforts of Ambassador Dr. Jemal in mobilizing stakeholders and fostering bilateral engagement. He reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening partnerships across Africa, particularly through initiatives that promote trade diversification and regional cooperation.
The Single Country Exhibition is poised to offer new commercial opportunities, foster private sector partnerships, and build sustainable trade bridges between South Asia and East Africa.
