EU Ambassador, Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Discuss Strengthening Trade Ties
The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Riina Kionka, met with Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral trade and investment relations.
During the meeting, Dr. Kionka invited Minister Khan to deliver the closing remarks at the European Union-Pakistan Business Forum (EU-PKBF), set to take place in Islamabad on May 14-15, 2025. The event aims to boost business partnerships, investment opportunities, and trade collaborations between the two economies.
Key Highlights:
- The EU-PK Business Forum will feature B2B and B2G matchmaking, sector-focused discussions, and investment presentations.
- Key industries under focus include agribusiness, IT, machinery, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and green infrastructure.
- The forum will also witness the launch of the EU-Pakistan Business Network (EUPBN), uniting 300+ European companies operating in Pakistan to strengthen investment cooperation.
- The EU remains Pakistan’s second-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching €12 billion in 2024.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan welcomed the initiatives, acknowledging the EU’s crucial role in fostering economic growth in Pakistan. Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening trade ties and facilitating a more robust business environment.
