EU Reaffirms Gaza’s Role in Future Palestinian State, Rejects Forced Displacement
The European Union has reiterated its firm stance that Gaza is an inseparable part of a future Palestinian state, emphasizing its continued support for a two-state solution as the only viable path to lasting peace in the region.
A spokesperson for the EU’s foreign policy division made the statement in response to recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the future of Gaza and the displacement of its residents. While not directly addressing Trump’s comments, the EU official underscored the bloc’s long-standing position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“Two-state solution, which we believe is the only path to long-term peace for both Israelis and Palestinians,” the spokesperson said. “Gaza is an integral part of a future Palestinian state.”
The EU’s statement comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsening and concerns growing over potential forced displacements. European officials have warned that any attempt to remove Palestinians from their land would constitute a violation of international law and could lead to further instability.
Over the past weeks, European leaders have engaged in diplomatic discussions with regional and global stakeholders to seek de-escalation and a renewed push for peace talks. The EU has consistently called for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza, where the population continues to suffer due to shortages of basic necessities.
As pressure mounts for a resolution to the ongoing conflict, the EU remains steadfast in its belief that a negotiated settlement—one that guarantees security, sovereignty, and coexistence for both Israelis and Palestinians—is the only sustainable way forward. European diplomats are expected to intensify their efforts in the coming weeks to push for renewed peace negotiations and ensure adherence to international legal frameworks.
