EU Warns Pakistani Citizens About Misleading Information on Visa and Consular Appointments

The European Union has issued a warning to Pakistani citizens about a new scam involving misleading information on visa and consular appointments. The EU’s office in Islamabad took to its official social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), to alert the public that fake listings have been spotted in Google Maps for the embassies of European Union member states. These fake listings include incorrect contact details and fraudulent phone numbers related to visa and consular services.

The EU described this scam as a “serious fraudulent activity by criminal organizations” and cautioned citizens against relying on these misleading sources.

In the warning, the EU emphasized that authentic information regarding visa and consular matters can only be found on the official websites of the embassies of EU member states. The European Union clarified that these official websites are the sole legitimate sources for obtaining accurate contact details and relevant information for visa appointments and consular services, as opposed to Google Maps or any other embassy directories.
