
France and Pakistan Relations Strengthen with a Focus on Trade and Investment

The partnership between Pakistan and France is entering a promising phase, with both nations prioritizing trade and investment opportunities. French Ambassador to Pakistan, Nicolas Galey, reaffirmed the commitment to stronger bilateral ties during a meeting with Sardar Zahoor Iqbal, Chairman of the France-Pakistan Business Forum.
Ambassador Galey emphasized the robust foundation of Pakistan-France relations, recognizing Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability. French companies are increasingly active in Pakistan, particularly in sectors like dairy production, where French expertise could drive quality improvements.
The ambassador welcomed Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s decision to resume flights to France, terming it a positive step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation. He also praised the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in France and noted improved visa facilities for students, which are fostering educational exchanges.
The France-Pakistan Business Forum has emerged as a vital platform for promoting economic collaboration. Ambassador Galey lauded the forum’s efforts in connecting businesses from both countries, fostering mutual economic benefits.
Sardar Zahoor Iqbal highlighted the untapped potential for attracting medium-sized French enterprises to Pakistan. He called for continued support from the Pakistani government and its embassy in France to encourage more businesses to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The meeting underscored the importance of leveraging French technology and expertise to improve production quality and reduce costs in industries like dairy. Plans for high-level meetings and a potential visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to Pakistan in 2025 were also discussed.
Sardar Zahoor praised the proactive role of Ambassador Galey and Pakistani Ambassador to France, Asim Iftikhar, in bridging gaps and advancing mutual interests.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s three meetings with President Macron have yielded productive outcomes, setting the stage for a “new era of cooperation.” The France-Pakistan Business Forum leadership, including President Haji Aslam, Secretary Yasir Khan, and Chief Coordinator Mian Atiq, remains committed to deepening ties in trade, cultural exchanges, and public diplomacy.
With coordinated efforts from both governments and the private sector, Pakistan and France are poised to unlock new opportunities. The growing collaboration is expected to strengthen trade, investment, and cultural partnerships, paving the way for a more prosperous bilateral relationship in the coming years.
