France, Germany, Italy, and UK Support $53 Billion Arab Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom have endorsed a $53 billion Arab-backed initiative aimed at rebuilding Gaza and ensuring the protection of its Palestinian residents.

In a joint statement, the ministers highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the need for immediate reconstruction efforts.

“This plan provides a viable and sustainable roadmap for rebuilding Gaza, offering hope for better living conditions for Palestinians. If implemented, it can bring much-needed relief to the people of Gaza,” the statement read.

Arab-Led Plan Faces Israeli and U.S. Opposition

Originally proposed by Egypt and later approved by Arab leaders, the reconstruction strategy envisions a temporary administration led by independent Palestinian technocrats, operating under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority (PA). This initiative aims to oversee humanitarian aid distribution and manage essential services in Gaza.

Despite its humanitarian focus, the proposal has been firmly rejected by Israel and U.S. President Donald Trump, who has instead proposed transforming Gaza into a tourism and economic hub under private-sector investment.

European Nations Advocate Palestinian Authority’s Role

Expressing strong backing for the Arab initiative, the European ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful resolution while asserting that Hamas should no longer govern Gaza or pose a security threat to Israel.

“We support the Palestinian Authority in playing a central role in Gaza’s administration and governance reforms,” the ministers stated.

As diplomatic efforts continue, the European endorsement of this Arab-led reconstruction effort signals growing international pressure to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and establish a sustainable path toward recovery.
