France Poised to Recognize Palestinian State at June Peace Conference: Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has signaled that France is preparing to officially recognize the State of Palestine, with a possible announcement expected during a high-level international peace conference in New York this June.

Speaking in a televised interview, Macron revealed that France is working closely with Saudi Arabia to co-host the upcoming summit, which aims to reignite global efforts toward a two-state solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

He further emphasized the importance of a balanced diplomatic approach, calling for mutual recognition between all parties involved. Macron stressed that while France intends to support Palestinian statehood, it also firmly upholds Israel’s right to exist within secure and recognized borders.

“This recognition is not just symbolic—it is part of a broader strategy to support peace and regional stability. Those who deny Israel’s existence must be opposed just as strongly as those who ignore Palestinian rights,” he said.

France has long supported the vision of two sovereign states coexisting peacefully. However, formal recognition of a Palestinian state would mark a major shift in French foreign policy and could influence other European nations to follow suit.

Macron noted that the June conference could serve as a platform for multiple countries to move collectively toward recognition, creating a unified front in support of renewed peace talks.

Although this potential move may provoke criticism from Israel, which has consistently opposed unilateral recognition efforts, France views the step as necessary to break the current deadlock and advance diplomacy in the region.

The initiative also reinforces France’s broader goal of promoting international law, security cooperation, and balanced engagement in resolving one of the world’s most enduring conflicts.
