France, UK, and Germany Plan Joint Diplomatic Visit to Israel Over Gaza Aid Concerns

BERLIN — Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are reportedly considering a joint diplomatic visit to Israel next week to press for increased access to humanitarian aid, according to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Berlin alongside King Abdullah II of Jordan, Chancellor Merz stated that the three European powers are planning to dispatch their respective foreign ministers to Israel as early as next Thursday to present a united stance on urgent humanitarian assistance for Gaza.

“We will probably ask the three foreign ministers of France, the United Kingdom, and Germany to travel to Israel together next Thursday to present the position of our three governments,” Merz said.

Chancellor Merz also revealed that two German A400M military transport aircraft are already en route to Jordan, where they will prepare to launch humanitarian aid missions to Gaza, potentially starting as early as Wednesday.

“This work may only make a small contribution to humanitarian aid, but it sends an important signal: We are here, we are in the region,” Merz said.

The aircraft will refuel in Jordan and, in collaboration with France and Germany, are expected to conduct relief flights over the weekend to support civilians in Gaza affected by the ongoing crisis.

Merz acknowledged recent moves by Israel to allow more aid into Gaza but emphasized that greater access and continued international cooperation are essential.

“We welcome the initial steps Israel has taken to permit aid, but more must follow,” he asserted.

The potential visit by the French, British, and German foreign ministers signals rising pressure from Western allies on Israel to ease humanitarian restrictions and support efforts aimed at alleviating civilian suffering.
