Chilas – A Gilgit-Baltistan government helicopter crashed near Chilas on Monday, killing five people including the pilot. Officials confirmed the accident occurred due to a technical fault while the aircraft was attempting to land.

Government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq stated that the helicopter was carrying two pilots and two technical crew members when it malfunctioned mid-flight. The aircraft caught fire after impact, leaving no survivors on board.

The **Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan** expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed authorities to immediately conduct rescue and relief operations.

Senior officials, including the **Commander FCN, Director General of Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts, and Commissioner Diamer**, quickly arrived at the crash site. Rescue teams are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire and securing the wreckage.
