Global Forum on Finance and Economics Opens in Beijing

BEIJING: The Global Forum on Finance and Economics officially opened in Beijing under the theme “China and the World Economy in the Age of Digital Intelligence,” drawing an influential gathering of international economists, Nobel laureates, and representatives of global organizations.

The prestigious event is hosted by the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) with support from the Shijingshan District People’s Government. It provides a high-level dialogue platform on critical financial, technological, and economic issues.

During the opening, CUFE introduced its self-developed Chinese Unified Financial and Economic Large Language Models (CUFEL), alongside an AI-powered listed-company analysis tool, CUFEL-A — underlining China’s advances in digital finance innovation.

Wide-ranging discussions at the forum examined the transformative effects of digital technologies on global finance, industry, and governance, according to China Economic Net (CEN).

Delivering a keynote address, Zou Ciyong, Deputy Director General and Managing Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), emphasized that the convergence of digitalization and the green transition is reshaping industrial patterns. He cautioned, however, that stark imbalances in digital progress could leave many behind, urging practical international cooperation and investment in digital skills development.

Jiang Xiaojuan, former Deputy Secretary-General of China’s State Council, noted China’s growing competitive edge through institutional openness. She highlighted digital platforms as key to exporting cultural products and services, and called for deeper cross-border collaboration in digital research and development and cloud-enabled manufacturing.

The forum has become a strategic bridge connecting policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and international organizations, underscoring China’s expanding role in shaping the future of the global economy through digital transformation.
