Global Powers Welcome India-Pakistan Ceasefire Agreement

The recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India has received strong international endorsement from the United Nations, Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed hope that the ceasefire will serve as a step toward long-term regional peace. He emphasized that the truce creates a positive environment for resolving deeper and longstanding issues between the two South Asian neighbors.

Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir personally called Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to welcome the truce. In response, Dar praised Saudi Arabia’s constructive and stabilizing role in promoting peace in South Asia.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry also welcomed the ceasefire and urged both nations to seize this opportunity to reduce tensions and work toward lasting peace in the region.

The UK Foreign Secretary released a statement encouraging both sides to maintain the ceasefire, stating that de-escalation is in the interest of all parties.

Germany’s Foreign Office echoed similar sentiments, calling the agreement a crucial first step out of confrontation. It added that dialogue remains the only viable path to end tensions.

The ceasefire, which began at 4:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time, is being viewed as a significant breakthrough after weeks of rising tensions.
