
Governor Punjab Meets Australian High Commissioner: Discusses Bilateral Relations

Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, met with the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Neil Hawkins, at Governor House Lahore today. The meeting focused on various topics of mutual interest, including climate change, education, agriculture, the dairy sector, and strengthening bilateral ties in sports.
During the discussion, Governor Saleem Haider emphasized Pakistan’s appreciation for its relations with Australia, expressing a desire to leverage Australian technology to modernize the country’s agricultural sector. He also highlighted the need for increased cooperation in education, livestock, science, and technology. The governor commended the Australian government’s scholarship programs for Pakistani students studying at Australian universities.
Addressing the global challenge of climate change, the governor stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to combat the issue. He also acknowledged Australia’s contribution to promoting cricket and hockey in Pakistan, announcing plans to invite a hockey team to Governor House after October 10, with an invitation extended to the Australian High Commissioner for the occasion.
In response, High Commissioner Neil Hawkins affirmed Australia’s commitment to its relationship with Pakistan. He noted ongoing projects in agriculture and farming in Punjab and called for further enhancement of trade between the two nations.
