Greenland Stands Firm Against U.S. Takeover Speculation

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has firmly dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion that the United States will acquire the Arctic territory, reinforcing Greenland’s commitment to self-governance.

In a strong response, Nielsen stated, “Greenland is not for sale, nor will it ever be. We control our own destiny and belong to no one.” His statement follows Trump’s recent comments expressing confidence that the U.S. would eventually gain control of Greenland for strategic purposes.

Tensions have escalated further following a visit by U.S. Vice President JD Vance to an American military base in Greenland, where he suggested that the U.S. could provide greater security and economic benefits to the region. However, these remarks have sparked widespread protests in Nuuk, with demonstrators waving Greenlandic flags and holding signs reading “Our Land, Our Future” and “No to U.S. Control”.
