Hamas: Ceasefire Decision Now Rests with Israel
Hamas has welcomed mediator proposals for a ceasefire in Gaza, stating that the final decision now depends on Israel. The group emphasized its commitment to negotiations and blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for delaying the process to secure his political future.
Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif Al-Qanoua accused Israel of consistently violating agreements and confirmed that mediators have been informed about these breaches. He stressed that Hamas’ conditions aim to stabilize the ceasefire and hold Israel accountable for its commitments.
A Hamas delegation recently visited Cairo to reaffirm its dedication to the ceasefire, engaging in discussions with mediators. The group claimed Israel has already violated the first phase of the truce by suspending humanitarian aid and enforcing the Gaza blockade.
Hamas has called on the international community to pressure Israel into implementing the ceasefire fully and ensuring humanitarian relief reaches Gaza without obstruction.
