Hamas Declares Israeli Captives Will Only Be Released Through Negotiations

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has reiterated that Israel’s attempts to reignite war in Gaza have failed and that the release of Israeli captives will only be possible through negotiations.

In an official statement, Hamas emphasized its flexibility in peace efforts mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy. The group stated that it is awaiting the results of ongoing discussions while working to push Israel toward an agreement that would facilitate the next phase of negotiations.

According to Hamas, the current talks are centered on ending the war, securing the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and initiating reconstruction efforts in the war-torn region. The group claimed that it has fully honored the first phase of the agreement and that its top priority now is to safeguard civilians, provide them with essential support, and ensure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.

Hamas also confirmed its acceptance of Egypt’s proposal to establish a special committee in Gaza aimed at strengthening Palestinian resistance and reinforcing the people’s determination to remain on their land.

The statement further accused Israel of tightening the blockade, shutting down border crossings, and obstructing humanitarian aid deliveries in an effort to force Palestinians into displacement. However, Hamas declared that these tactics would ultimately fail.

Additionally, the group warned that Israel’s threats to resume military action and cut off electricity in Gaza are impractical and pose a direct risk to the safety of Israeli captives. Hamas affirmed that the only pathway to their release is through diplomatic negotiations, ruling out any alternative approaches.
