Jerusalem — As Israel intensifies preparations for a potential ground invasion of Gaza City, Hamas has reiterated its willingness to release all hostages in exchange for a comprehensive ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave.
The group stressed that it is still awaiting Israel’s formal reply to a ceasefire proposal it accepted two weeks ago, which includes a comprehensive prisoner exchange.
In its latest statement, Hamas declared readiness “to enter into a comprehensive deal in which all enemy prisoners held by the resistance will be freed in exchange for an agreed-upon number of Palestinian prisoners held by the occupation.”
According to Hamas, the proposed agreement would:
- End the war on Gaza
- Ensure the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave
- Reopen border crossings to allow humanitarian aid and essential goods
- Launch the reconstruction process of war-damaged areas
The group also said it supports forming an “independent national administration of technocrats” to govern Gaza after the conflict.
Israel has rejected the proposal in its current form, maintaining that any agreement requires Hamas to surrender and disarm.
US President Donald Trump has urged Hamas to immediately release all living hostages, calling their continued captivity unacceptable.
Meanwhile, families of the hostages and their supporters staged a rally in Jerusalem, pressing the Israeli government to reach a deal that would secure their loved ones’ safe return.
