Beirut — Sheikh Naim Qassem, Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah, has sharply criticized the Lebanese government, accusing it of executing a US-Israeli strategy aimed at dismantling the Resistance movement.
Speaking during a televised address, Sheikh Qassem claimed that certain political decisions and security measures recently taken by the government align closely with foreign agendas, undermining Lebanon’s sovereignty and the armed resistance against Israeli occupation.
Sheikh Qassem asserted that Washington and Tel Aviv are exerting direct influence over Lebanese political affairs, pressuring officials to weaken Hezbollah’s operational capacity.
“This Lebanese government is implementing the US-Israeli order to end the Resistance,” he said, adding that such policies serve external interests rather than those of the Lebanese people.
The statement comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, with cross-border incidents between Hezbollah and Israeli forces intensifying in recent weeks. Analysts say the remarks could deepen political divisions within Lebanon, where factions remain split between pro-Western and pro-Resistance camps.
Lebanese authorities have not issued an official response to Sheikh Qassem’s allegations. Political observers expect that the remarks will spark further debate over the country’s foreign policy alignment and the role of armed groups in national defense.
