Imran Khan Appoints Aliya Hamza as Head of PTI Punjab Political Committee
Report by Safarti Tarjuman Local Desk
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has expressed serious reservations over the formation of a four-member political committee in Punjab. He has directed that the notification of the committee be withdrawn and reissued with new leadership.
Imran Khan, currently in custody, conveyed his concerns through Senator Ali Zafar. He instructed that Aliya Hamza be appointed as the new head of the Punjab political committee. The original members—Salman Akram Raja, Omar Ayub, Ahmad Khan Bachhar, and Usman Akram—were part of the earlier panel that did not include Aliya Hamza in a leadership role.
Party insiders informed Imran Khan that the current committee had been formed without adequate consultation, particularly regarding leadership. In response, he emphasized the importance of aligning the committee’s leadership with the party’s strategic priorities.
Senator Ali Zafar was directed to formally appoint Aliya Hamza and notify senior leader Shamim Naqvi of the updated decision. During an informal discussion with journalists at the jail, Senator Zafar, along with legal representatives Aliya Hamza, Ali Imran, and Faisal Chaudhry, confirmed the reshuffle.
