India, China Agree to Resume Dialogue and Strengthen Ties
India and China have agreed to resume dialogue through functional exchanges in a step-by-step approach, with an early meeting of the India-China Expert Level Mechanism, India’s Foreign Ministry announced.
Commitment to Cooperation Over Conflict
During the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for both countries to pursue a path of “mutual support and mutual achievement” rather than falling into a cycle of “suspicion” and “alienation”, according to a statement from China’s Foreign Ministry.
Restoring Diplomatic and Strategic Engagement
The agreement marks a positive step in restoring engagement between the two nations, which have experienced tensions in recent years. Both sides are expected to work towards strengthening diplomatic channels, enhancing bilateral communication, and addressing regional challenges through constructive dialogue.
The resumption of talks signals a renewed effort to stabilize India-China relations and foster greater cooperation in strategic and economic domains.
