The Indian Ministry of Sports has officially issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Indian blind cricket team, allowing them to participate in the upcoming T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in Pakistan, commencing on November 23. The highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for November 25 in Lahore.
In a letter sent to Shailendra Yadav, the Secretary-General of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India, the Ministry confirmed the NOC and instructed the association to liaise with the Ministries of External Affairs and Home Affairs for any additional clearances needed for the tour.
The Indian blind cricket team is set to arrive in Lahore on November 12, ahead of the tournament. Expressing enthusiasm about the NOC, Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council, stated that matches between India and Pakistan draw immense attention from fans and foster excitement among the Pakistani public, especially during World Cup events. He also highlighted the positive impact of cricket diplomacy on bilateral relations in the past.
Shah pointed out that the United Nations Charter encourages inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities, particularly in sports, and expressed hope that the Indian authorities would expedite the necessary clearances for the blind cricket team’s tour to Pakistan.
