Iran’s Minister of Industry and Trade has announced that Tehran and Islamabad have agreed to eliminate obstacles in their mutual trade. This development marks a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the two neighboring countries.
In a recent interview, Iranian Trade Minister Syed Mohammad Atabak emphasized that the relevant institutions in both countries are fully prepared to implement the agreement, paving the way for smoother trade operations.
The Minister revealed that Pakistan’s Minister of Trade is scheduled to visit Iran soon to finalize the Free Trade List between the two nations. This visit is anticipated to further advance discussions on trade facilitation.
Atabak stated that once the free and preferential trade process commences, some tariffs on certain goods will be reduced. However, he noted that this will require prior agreement on the specific tariffs.
The Iranian Minister mentioned that a consensus has already been reached on tariffs for many items, and he expressed confidence that agreements on the remaining items will also be finalized.
The Minister of Industry and Trade expressed optimism that Tehran and Islamabad would reach compromises on other outstanding matters, enabling the realization of the positive outcomes from the agreements.
This announcement follows a meeting between Iran’s Minister of Industry and Trade and his Pakistani counterpart during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting in Islamabad, where they discussed enhancing bilateral trade relations.
