Iran at UN: Strong Support for a Sovereign, Terror-Free Syria
Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
Iran has reiterated its unwavering support for a fully sovereign, stable, and united Syria, free from terrorism, foreign occupation, and external interference.
Delivering remarks during a United Nations Security Council session on Syria, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Amir Saeed Iravani, emphasized that Tehran has consistently upheld a principled policy aimed at promoting peace and sovereignty in the region.
Iran Dismisses Allegations of Destabilization
The Iranian ambassador made it clear that Iran strongly rejects the accusation of playing a role in destabilizing Syria or the wider Middle East. He called such claims politically motivated and unsubstantiated.
“Iran has never taken any action to destabilize Syria or the region,” Iravani stated. “We strongly support Syria’s territorial integrity and the right of its people to determine their own future without foreign interference.”
Call for International Respect for Syrian Sovereignty
The Iranian envoy urged the international community to respect Syria’s independence and avoid actions that undermine the country’s unity and stability. He reaffirmed that any effort to distort Iran’s position on Syria is biased and unacceptable.
“Our support for a peaceful, sovereign, and terror-free Syria remains firm,” he said, calling on all nations to contribute constructively to Syria’s long-term peace and reconstruction.
