TABRIZ — Iran’s Armed Forces have successfully intercepted and destroyed a fourth Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jet over the city of Tabriz, escalating an already volatile confrontation with Israel.
Majid Farshi, Director General of East Azerbaijan Crisis Management, confirmed the operation on Tuesday, stating that Iran’s air defense systems also downed two combat drones earlier in the day.
“Three separate aerial threats were neutralized in Tabriz today, including Israeli micro air vehicles (MAVs),” said Farshi.
The incident marks the latest in a series of aerial engagements in the region, as Iran bolsters its defense posture against what it calls “repeated acts of Israeli aggression.”
The aerial conflict follows a series of deadly Israeli strikes on Iranian soil beginning the night of June 13, targeting military installations and residential areas.
Iran has condemned the attacks as unprovoked assassinations and violations of international law, vowing a strong and calculated response.
In light of the escalating threat, Iranian air defense systems have been placed on full alert, especially in strategic locations such as Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan.
Military officials say the recent downing of four Israeli F-35s represents a major blow to Israel’s aerial superiority and signals Iran’s growing anti-stealth capabilities.
The F-35, known for its advanced evasion and targeting systems, is considered one of the most sophisticated fighter jets in Israel’s arsenal.
