Iran Launches Hypersonic Missile Strikes on Israel in Major Retaliation

TEHRAN — Iran’s Armed Forces launched a large-scale wave of hypersonic missile strikes on Israeli targets Friday evening, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions between the two countries following deadly Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory earlier in the day.

According to Iranian state media, the retaliatory attacks began without warning and targeted high-profile Israeli military installations and government facilities, including the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Explosions were reported in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with video footage showing fireballs lighting up the night skies.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the strikes in a brief statement, claiming dozens of Israeli sites, including military bases and air defense systems, were hit in “pinpoint operations.” The IRGC noted that more details would be released later.

Following the strikes, Khamenei swiftly appointed replacements for the slain commanders, signaling continuity in Iran’s military leadership.

Anticipating Iranian retaliation, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a nationwide state of emergency. Israeli air defenses attempted to intercept incoming missiles, but Iranian media reports claim several systems were neutralized prior to impact.
