Iran has reiterated its commitment to the diplomatic process on its nuclear program while strongly rejecting what it calls unlawful pressure and threats from the United States.

In a statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Tehran emphasized that it will continue negotiations aimed at resolving nuclear-related issues but will not yield to coercion or measures that violate international law.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not accept pressure and threats that infringe upon the rights of the Iranian people,” the statement said, condemning what it described as “illegal sanctions and pressure on Iran’s economic partners.” The ministry argued that these tactics serve as clear evidence that Washington lacks genuine intent for diplomacy.

The statement further underscored that such policies would not affect Iran’s principled positions. “Testing failed strategies will only repeat the mistakes of the past,” the ministry warned.

The Iranian government noted that its negotiating delegation made earnest efforts in the first three rounds of nuclear talks to achieve a fair agreement that safeguards Tehran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy under established frameworks.

Tehran also referenced a diplomatic outreach initiated under former US President Donald Trump, stating that indirect negotiations began following Trump’s letter to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a bid to resolve tensions “based on good faith and diplomacy.”

The renewed tensions come after Trump announced on Thursday that all countries and individuals must immediately halt purchases of Iranian oil and petrochemicals or face secondary sanctions.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed the postponement of the fourth round of nuclear talks, originally scheduled for Saturday in Rome. The delay was attributed to “logistical reasons” at the suggestion of the Sultanate of Oman, which is acting as a mediator.
