Iran Warns Israel and U.S. of Decisive Response Over Potential Attack on Nuclear Facilities
Report by Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
Iran has issued a stern warning to Israel and the United States against any attack on its nuclear facilities, declaring that Washington would bear legal responsibility should such an attack occur. The warning from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi comes amid reports suggesting Israel may be preparing military strikes on Iran, and just ahead of the fifth round of U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations scheduled for Friday in Rome.
Speaking on Thursday, Araqchi stated that any adventurism by Israel would be met with a “decisive response,” adding that Iran would consider the United States a “participant” in any Israeli aggression due to its close alliance with Tel Aviv. He emphasized that Tehran may adopt “special measures” to safeguard its nuclear sites, with subsequent notification to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The CNN report earlier this week cited unnamed intelligence sources, indicating uncertainty about Israel’s final decision on military action, while noting internal U.S. disagreement over the likelihood of such a move.
In a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Araqchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to respond robustly to any unlawful acts against its nuclear program. The Iranian Foreign Ministry did not disclose the nature of these “special measures,” but previous statements by Iranian officials suggested potential suspension of IAEA cooperation or relocation of enriched uranium to secure, undisclosed sites.
Reinforcing the government’s position, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned Israel on Thursday of a “devastating and decisive response” in the event of an attack. IRGC spokesperson Alimohammad Naini said Israeli leaders were underestimating Iran’s military readiness and national unity in the face of conflict.
