In response to the growing advancements of armed groups in Syria, Iran has recalled its Quds Force, a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with other personnel stationed in the country.
According to reliable local sources, Iran has withdrawn the Quds Force operatives, along with Revolutionary Guard members, some Iranian embassy staff, their families, and other Iranian citizens from Syria. The withdrawal order was issued by the Iranian embassy in Damascus. Following this, Iranian personnel began leaving Syria early on Friday morning, with some departing via air to Tehran, while others are taking land routes through Iraq and Lebanon.
This development comes after a series of unexpected attacks by armed opposition groups across several cities in Syria, which have led to the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s government in many regions. In the wake of these clashes, thousands have been killed, and millions have been displaced from their homes.
