Lahore — Muhammad Mehdi Imanipour, Chairman of the Council for Interfaith Dialogue of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that Iran possesses the necessary capabilities to defend itself against aggression. Speaking in an telephonic talk from Tehran with Dr. Asghar Masoudi, Director General of Iran’s Cultural Center in Lahore, Imanipour said Iran’s recent military response to Israeli attacks was compelled by self-defense, but not seen by Tehran as a path conducive to world peace.

He emphasized that while Iran reserves the right to defend its sovereignty, the country’s leadership does not view escalation as aligned with divine principles. “The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has forbidden our nuclear authorities from developing nuclear weapons due to the risk of mass destruction,” Imanipour said, describing Iran’s military policy as consistent with religious and humanitarian standards.

Muhammad Mehdi Imanipour urged religious authorities and thinkers worldwide to immediately and collectively condemn what he called “criminal Israeli aggression.” He warned that such attacks have pushed global peace and security to the brink of an unprecedented threat. “Religious leaders concerned about international peace must not remain silent,” he said, calling for unified action to confront what he described as a dangerous adventure threatening stability in the region.

Highlighting Israel’s attacks on Iranian territory, Muhammad Mehdi Imanipour accused the “Zionist usurper regime” of violating Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He cited strikes on residential areas, homes of nuclear scientists, senior military personnel, and civilians—including women and children—as evidence of what he called clear breaches of the UN Charter and acts of aggression.

“This barbarity demonstrates the failure of international institutions that allow such abuses while manipulating public opinion,” he said. He warned that Israeli attacks on nuclear facilities risk igniting broader conflict in the region, urging believers to take immediate steps to counter what he described as a disaster for global peace.
