Iranian Ambassador Meets Chief Minister of Baluchistan: Discussions on Trade Cooperation

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, held a meeting with Chief Minister of Baluchistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, during his visit to Quetta. The two leaders discussed various topics of mutual interest, emphasizing the enhancement of bilateral relations and trade cooperation.

Mir Sarfaraz Bugti welcomed the Iranian ambassador and highlighted the historic and deep-rooted ties between the two neighboring nations. He stated:

The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening trade relations with Iran and addressing challenges along the shared borders, including efforts to curb smuggling.

Mir Sarfaraz Bugti assured that the issues faced by Iranian truck drivers in border areas would be resolved promptly. He further announced plans to host a conference in Islamabad involving officials from the Chamber of Commerce to explore new avenues for Pakistan-Iran trade cooperation.

Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam highlighted the importance of fostering regional partnerships and shared the Iranian government’s vision under President Masoud Pezeshkian to enhance collaboration with neighboring countries. He emphasized:

He called for greater coordination between federal and provincial governments to overcome barriers to trade and improve cross-border connectivity.

The Iranian envoy extended an official invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Iran, which was graciously accepted. Mir Sarfaraz Bugti expressed his intention to lead a high-level provincial delegation to Iran in the near future to explore further opportunities for mutual cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Quetta-based Iranian Consul General Seyed Mehdi Shaeghi and the Director of Iran’s Cultural Center, Abul Hasan Miri.

This engagement reflects a significant step toward deepening ties between Pakistan and Iran, paving the way for enhanced trade and economic collaboration while fostering a stronger bond between the neighboring nations.
