Iran’s Supreme Leader Dismisses U.S. Nuclear Talks as ‘Deceptive’
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s offer for renewed nuclear negotiations, calling it a misleading attempt to manipulate global opinion.
Khamenei’s statement follows reports that Trump had sent a formal letter proposing discussions to limit Iran’s nuclear advancements. The letter, delivered by UAE diplomat Anwar Gargash to Iranian officials, was met with skepticism in Tehran.
“Years of negotiations led to a comprehensive agreement, yet the same individual who signed it later ripped it apart,” Khamenei stated, referring to the 2015 nuclear deal abandoned by Trump in 2018. The U.S. withdrawal led to harsh economic sanctions, prompting Iran to scale back its commitments under the agreement.
With sanctions still in place and trust eroded, Khamenei emphasized that Washington’s approach lacks credibility. His remarks indicate that Iran remains unwilling to engage in negotiations unless the U.S. proves its commitment to honoring agreements.
As diplomatic tensions persist, the future of U.S.-Iran relations remains uncertain, with both sides holding firm on their positions.
