Islamic Emirate Calls for Voluntary Return of Afghan Refugees Amid Rising Deportations

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has renewed its appeal for the voluntary return of Afghan refugees as Eid al-Fitr celebrations commence. The call comes amid increasing deportations of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan.

Both nations have intensified efforts to expel undocumented Afghan refugees in recent months. Pakistan has reaffirmed its crackdown on individuals lacking legal residence permits, creating uncertainty even for those with valid refugee status.

Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, Afghanistan’s Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, urged Iran and Pakistan to halt forced deportations and allow Afghans to return voluntarily. He stressed the need for humane treatment, citing reports of mistreatment at border crossings, including cases where legally documented refugees were expelled.

The situation remains a growing concern, with Afghan authorities closely monitoring developments and calling for international support to ensure the safe and dignified return of refugees.
