Israel Blocks Saudi-Led Foreign Ministers’ Visit to West Bank, Citing Security Concerns
Report by Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
Israel has officially decided to prevent a high-level delegation of Middle Eastern foreign ministers, led by Saudi Arabia, from visiting the West Bank this Sunday. A senior Israeli official confirmed the move, which blocks planned talks in Ramallah between the ministers and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
The delegation, which was to include foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and Turkey, had intended to engage in a meeting focused on advancing the creation of a Palestinian state. The Israeli government, however, stated it would not cooperate with any initiative perceived as threatening to its national security or sovereignty.

The foreign ministers’ visit was expected to mark a rare show of diplomatic unity in support of Palestinian statehood, coming ahead of a Saudi- and French-sponsored conference at the United Nations next month. The upcoming conference is aimed at reviving efforts for a two-state solution, with France reportedly considering formal recognition of a Palestinian state.
