Israel Halts Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Following Ceasefire Expiry
The Israeli government has suspended humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza just hours after the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal ended, Israeli media reported.
According to Channel 12, aid shipments were halted following the official conclusion of the ceasefire. Channel 14 further stated that in a high-level discussion led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the decision was made to suspend all humanitarian aid truck deliveries into Gaza until further notice. The move was reportedly coordinated with the United States.
The first phase of the ceasefire, which lasted 42 days, formally ended at midnight on Saturday, but Israel has yet to commit to the second phase or a complete end to the war.
Earlier on Sunday, Israel signaled willingness to consider a temporary ceasefire during Ramadan and Passover, following a proposal from U.S. Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff.
Since the war began, over 48,380 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have lost their lives, with Gaza left in ruins due to relentless Israeli airstrikes and military operations. The suspension of aid is expected to further worsen humanitarian conditions in the region.
