Israel in Talks with Five Countries Over Voluntary Resettlement of Gazans

Jerusalem — Israel is reportedly holding discussions with Indonesia, Somaliland, Uganda, South Sudan, and Libya regarding the voluntary resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, according to a report by Channel 12.

A senior diplomatic source told the outlet that Indonesia and Somaliland have shown “greater openness” than before to receiving Gazan civilians, though no formal agreements have been reached. Somaliland, a self-declared independent region of Somalia, is reportedly seeking international recognition in return for its cooperation.

The report follows Associated Press claims that Israel had discussed relocating Gazans to South Sudan — an allegation South Sudan’s government has dismissed as “baseless” and inconsistent with its official stance.

In an interview with i24 News on Tuesday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the idea of mass Gazan emigration — a proposal also backed by US President Donald Trump earlier this year. Netanyahu said Israel is in contact with “several countries” willing to consider resettlement options.

“This is the most natural thing. Those who say they care for the Palestinians should open their doors to them,” Netanyahu said. “We’re not forcing them out — we are enabling them to leave combat zones and, if they choose, Gaza itself.”

When pressed on why the plan has not advanced, Netanyahu stressed the need for willing host countries and declined to list all nations involved in discussions.
