Israel launches ‘Gideon’s Chariots’ offensive in Gaza to expand military campaign against Palestinians

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has officially launched the initial phase of a large-scale military operation in the Gaza Strip, officially titled “Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” aimed at taking full control of Gaza.

In a statement issued, the IDF confirmed that its forces launched a wide-scale offensive and mobilized ground forces to seize key strategic positions throughout the region.

“Over the past day, the IDF launched a wide-scale offensive and mobilized forces to seize strategic areas in the Gaza Strip, as part of the launch of Operation Gideon’s Chariots and the expansion of the campaign in Gaza,” the statement said.

Israeli defense officials outlined the primary objectives of the offensive, including:

Defeating Hamas’ operational capabilities, Gaining full territorial control over Gaza, Relocating Palestinian civilians to southern Gaza for safety, Ensuring the release of hostages held by Hamas.

Reserves from the IDF’s Jerusalem Brigade have already been deployed to the northern Gaza Strip, with further mobilization expected as the operation progresses.

The campaign marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, with the IDF reaffirming its commitment to both military objectives and civilian protection amid international scrutiny.
