Israeli Airstrikes Cripple Sanaa Airport, Target Houthi Infrastructure Following Missile Threat
Report by Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
The Israeli military launched intense air raids on Sanaa International Airport in Yemen, striking key infrastructure used by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, military sources confirmed Tuesday.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation was aimed at dismantling facilities allegedly used for transferring weapons and personnel linked to terror activities. The airstrikes rendered the airport inoperable.
Hours before the attack, the IDF issued a rare Arabic-language warning urging civilians to evacuate the airport immediately.
In addition to the airport, Israeli fighter jets also bombed power facilities in the Sanaa region, which the military claims were repurposed by the Houthis to support militant operations. The raids came less than 24 hours after similar strikes targeted Houthi assets at Hodeidah Port.
Military officials stressed that the Houthis’ continued use of civilian infrastructure for terrorism poses a significant threat and violates international law. The latest strikes follow a recent Houthi missile launch that landed near Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.
The IDF emphasized that the air raids were necessary to defend against ongoing threats and to disrupt the Houthis’ regional terror network.
