Israeli Government Sends Message to al-Jolani: No Withdrawal from Syria

Israeli Government Sends Message to al-Jolani: No Withdrawal from Syria

The Israeli government has sent a letter to the new leaders in Damascus, stating that it has no intention of withdrawing from areas it controls in Syria due to ongoing security concerns.

The message comes despite formal communications from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham leader, Ahmed al-Shara (Abu Muhammad al-Jolani), sent nearly a week ago, in which he assured Israel that his group had no plans to engage in direct confrontation with Tel Aviv.

According to Israeli Newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Israeli officials emphasized that they would not tolerate any attempts by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) to expand into southern Syria. They further stressed that while they may consider moving to a buffer zone, their security concerns will continue to dictate their actions in the region.
