Tel Aviv – Thousands of demonstrators across Israel launched a nationwide strike and road blockades demanding the immediate release of hostages, leading to widespread disruption of traffic and public services. Security forces detained more than 30 protesters during the demonstrations.
The protests began early morning in major cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem, where activists, families of hostages, and civil society groups joined hands in solidarity. Many blocked key highways and intersections, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Authorities deployed additional police units to disperse demonstrators and reopen blocked roads. According to police statements, over 30 individuals were detained for “disturbing public order” and refusing to clear the roads.
Organizers of the strike stated that their demand is simple: “Bring the hostages home now.” Families of captives said the government must prioritize negotiations and take concrete action for the safe release of their loved ones.
Public frustration has been mounting as talks to secure the release of hostages have stalled in recent weeks. The strike marks one of the largest coordinated civil actions in recent months, underlining the urgency of the crisis.
Despite police crackdowns, protesters vowed to continue demonstrations until the government delivers a concrete plan for securing hostage freedom.
