The Government of Japan has approved a $44,025 (PKR 12.2 million) grant to support the construction of a new school building in Tarnol, Islamabad. This initiative is part of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program, which focuses on sustainable community development.

The grant agreement was formally signed at the Embassy of Japan by Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi, and a representative of the Community Services Program (CSP), an NGO dedicated to education, healthcare, and infrastructure development for over 15 years.

Project to Provide Modern Learning Facilities

With this funding, the NGO will construct a new school building in village Ramzania, Tarnol, alongside the provision of essential furniture. The project aims to expand access to quality education for students from pre-school to Grade 5, catering to both boys and girls. The new facilities are scheduled for completion by February 2026.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi emphasized the transformative power of education, drawing from Japan’s own development journey. He reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s youth by investing in education, which he described as the foundation of long-term economic growth and prosperity.

Japan’s Commitment to Pakistan’s Development

This grant is part of Japan’s broader strategy to empower grassroots communities in Pakistan through education, human security, and infrastructure projects. By funding this initiative, Japan continues to play a key role in enhancing learning opportunities in underserved areas, ultimately contributing to Pakistan’s socio-economic development.

The Japan-Pakistan partnership remains strong, with ongoing collaboration in education, healthcare, and economic sectors, aimed at fostering sustainable growth and bilateral cooperation.
