Japanese Ambassador and Punjab CM Discuss Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors
Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi, met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral ties between Japan and Pakistan. The conversation focused on various sectors where the two countries could collaborate for mutual benefit.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to explore new areas of cooperation with Japan, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, minerals, information technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and energy. She emphasized the need to increase economic cooperation between the nations and highlighted the importance of Japan’s role in supporting Pakistan’s development.
She also expressed her gratitude for Japan’s assistance during the devastating 2022 floods, acknowledging the country’s consistent support to Pakistan in times of crisis.
The Chief Minister praised Japan’s public welfare initiatives and development projects, emphasizing the longstanding friendship between the two countries. She invited Japanese investors to explore opportunities in Punjab, assuring them of full support and protection for their investments in the province.
Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi commended CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, as well as that of her family, particularly Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, for their efforts in advancing public welfare. The Ambassador also extended an invitation for CM Maryam Nawaz to visit Japan, an invitation which she graciously accepted.
