US Vice President Kamala Harris to Conclude Term with Global Farewell Tour

Vice President Kamala Harris will wrap up her tenure with a whirlwind international tour, making stops in Singapore, Bahrain, and Germany from January 13 to January 17, her office confirmed. This final trip aims to underscore key U.S. foreign policy priorities and express appreciation to American troops stationed overseas.

Accompanied by second gentleman Doug Emhoff, Harris will use the opportunity to engage with military personnel and meet with international leaders. The visits are seen as a farewell gesture that highlights her administration’s diplomatic focus during her time in office.

Harris has yet to reveal her plans following her departure from the vice presidency. However, her global itinerary has sparked speculation that she might continue to pursue an influential role on the world stage. Others have suggested she could return to California politics, potentially running for governor.

Dean Lieberman, Harris’ deputy national security adviser, shared the purpose behind her travel plans: “The vice president believes it is important to spend her final days in office recognizing and directly thanking the U.S. servicemembers who defend our nation abroad. This has been one of her proudest duties.”

The trip will begin in Singapore, where Harris is expected to visit Changi Naval Base and engage in discussions with the city-state’s leadership. Singapore’s critical position in the Indo-Pacific makes it a key ally in addressing regional security concerns, particularly those involving China’s influence and maritime activities in the South China Sea.
