Khamenei Warns US of Retaliation Amid Rising Tensions

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei issued a stark warning to the United States on Friday, stating that any hostile action against Iran would be met with a “severe slap.” His remarks come amid escalating tensions over US accusations that Iran-backed groups in the region are responsible for recent attacks.

The statement follows US President Donald Trump’s assertion earlier this week that Iran would be held accountable for any attacks carried out by Yemen’s Houthi militias, which Washington claims are supported by Tehran. However, Khamenei dismissed these allegations, insisting that Iran has no proxies in the region and that allied groups operate independently.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that Tehran is still evaluating a letter from Trump urging Iran to negotiate a new nuclear deal. While Khamenei rejected the proposal as deceptive, stating that it would only increase pressure on Iran, Araqchi emphasized that the government is considering both the “opportunities and threats” posed by the offer.

As diplomatic tensions persist, Iran’s response to the US proposal could shape the future of regional security and international relations.
