Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Officers Banned from Using Social Media

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Central Police Office has issued a directive banning police officers and personnel from using social media platforms, citing potential risks to the department’s reputation and the safety of its officers.

In a letter addressed to regional and district police officers, the Central Police Office outlined the restrictions, prohibiting the use of platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and YouTube by police personnel. The letter emphasized that all officers, regardless of rank, are required to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The directive also stated that officers are forbidden from using uniformed photos, displaying weapons, police badges, or any other official identifiers on their personal social media accounts. Violations of these rules have been observed, and regional police officers (RPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) have been instructed to take disciplinary actions where necessary.

The Central Police Office further explained that the misuse of social media could tarnish the department’s image and potentially endanger the lives of police personnel.
