Seoul — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reiterated Pyongyang’s full support for Russia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during high-level talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The meeting, held on September 3 in China during World War II commemoration events, highlighted the strengthening ties between the two countries amid escalating tensions with the West.
Kim stressed that North Korea considers it a “brotherly duty” to stand by Moscow in safeguarding its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity. He reaffirmed Pyongyang’s long-term commitment to the DPRK-Russia interstate treaty, which underpins strategic cooperation between the two nations.
KCNA reported that the discussions were conducted in a “friendly atmosphere”, underscoring the growing partnership between the two allies at a time of shifting global power dynamics.
