King Charles and Queen Camilla to Visit Pope Francis in April for 2025 Jubilee Year
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will embark on a state visit to Italy and the Holy See in early April 2025, where they will meet with Pope Francis in honor of the Jubilee Year, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The royal couple’s visit will highlight the deep ties between the United Kingdom and the Vatican, as the Jubilee Year, a significant event in the Catholic Church, focuses on themes of forgiveness, reconciliation, and renewal.
During their trip, King Charles and Queen Camilla will also attend official engagements in Rome and Ravenna, celebrating diplomatic and cultural relations between the UK and Italy.
The visit coincides with the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary on April 9, adding a personal milestone to their international tour.
Cardinal Vincent Nichols, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, welcomed the announcement, calling it an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the British monarchy and the Vatican.
Further details about the itinerary and key events of the visit are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
