The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to file an FIR against the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad and over 500 personnel. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Cabinet members cited the use of tear gas and violence against PTI workers during recent protests in the capital as the main reasons for this action.
Chief Minister Gandapur provided an overview of the current political landscape to the cabinet and approved the filing of a writ petition against the Election Commission.
Speaking at the Peshawar Press Club, Provincial Information Advisor Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif announced that an FIR would be lodged against the Islamabad IG for an alleged attack on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House.
According to Barrister Saif, during the incident, vehicles and furniture were damaged, officials were harassed, and families of MPAs were subjected to violence. He stated that KP would formally proceed with filing the FIR against the IG of Islamabad.
He also pointed out precedents, including a case in Lahore involving attempts to stop former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s vehicle and the registration of an FIR in Pakistan for the murder of MQM leader Dr. Imran Farooq in London.
